Dengue Fever: Burma

by Wayne Ghesquiere on July 4, 2013

Burma’s Ministry of Health has reported approximately 6500 cases of dengue fever so far this year.  The area’s of Burma that are most affected are Mon State and Ayeyarwady and Yangon regions.

There is currently no vaccine to prevent Dengue Fever therefore it is important to be aware of insect precautions.  A consultation with a travel health professional 4-6 weeks before departure will help ensure a safe and healthy trip.
