Dengue Fever: Honduras

by Wayne Ghesquiere on July 11, 2013

The Honduras’ Ministry of Health is reporting an average of 750 cases of dengue fever a week.  The epidemic has yet to peak, with approximately 8300 cases reported so far this year.

The highest number of cases are reported in the departments of Olancho, Atlántida and Choluteca, and in the cities of Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula.

Travellers are advised to seek travel health advise to learn more about protection against insect bites and to ensure all travel vaccines are up to date prior to departure.
