Consider booking 4-6 weeks in advance. Standard Canadian immunizations – available at any travel vaccine clinic – should be up to date. Food & Water precautions & Insect precautions are priorities. Malaria and Dengue Fever are a risk on some of the islands.  Consider protection for Hepatitis A & B as well as travelers diarrhea.

Travel to Mexico and Central America

Consider booking an appointment with Nova  Travel Clinic 6 weeks prior to departure.  Advice to prevent “Montezuma’s revenge” even if staying in an all inclusive 5 star resort.  Standard Canadian immunizations should be up to date. Hepatitis A & B, Typhoid, Rabies, Malaria chemoprophylaxis may be recommended.  Mosquito prevention for Dengue Fever and West Nile Fever is recommended.

Travel to South America

Travel to South America has become more common. We recommend booking an appointment with Nova Travel Clinic 6 weeks prior to travel. Travelers to South America need to have their routine vaccines up to date. Yellow Fever vaccine may be required. Insect precautions to prevent Dengue Fever & Malaria chemoprophylaxis should be reviewed. Advice regarding food and water precautions, Hepatitis A & B, Typhoid, Travelers Diarrhea & Rabies immunization may be recommended.  Altitude sickness is often a problem for travel to Quito in Ecuador & Cusco in Peru or any other high altitude travel in the Andes.  Medications can be very helpful to prevent altitude sickness.

Consider booking an appointment with Nova Travel Clinic 6 weeks prior to departure.  Travel to Western Europe has fewer health issues in comparison to travel to Eastern Europe where Tick Borne Encephalitis is a problem. Standard Canadian immunizations should be up to date. Some risks would include Hepatitis A & B, Typhoid, Tick Borne Encephalitis & Travelers Diarrhea .

Travel to Asia

Consider booking an appointment with Nova Travel Clinic 6 weeks prior to departure.  Standard Canadian immunizations should be up to date. Food &Water precautions & Insect precautions are high priorities. Significant risk for Dengue Fever & Chickungunya exists throughout Asia.  Consider protection for Hepatitis A & B, Typhoid, Japanese Encephalitis, Rabies and Malaria. Advice regarding altitude sickness for travelers visiting the Himalayas.

Travel to Africa

Consider booking an appointment with Nova Travel Clinic 6 weeks prior to departure.  Standard Canadian immunizations should be up to date. Travelers may require International Yellow Fever Certificate as an entry requirement into some African countries. Other immunizations that may be recommended include Hepatitis A & B, Typhoid, Meningitis, Rabies and Travelers’ diarrhea.  Influenza occurs year round in the tropics. Mosquito protection is recommended to prevent Dengue Fever; Yellow Fever & Malaria. Food and water precautions are reviewed. Altitude advice if climbing Mount Kilimanjaro is reviewed.

Travel to Oceania

Consider booking an appointment with Nova Travel Clinic 6 weeks prior to departure.   Standard Canadian immunizations should be up to date. Food & Water precautions & Insect precautions are high priorities. Significant risk for Malaria & Dengue Fever  exists throughout Oceania.  Consider protection for Hepatitis A & B, Typhoid, Rabies, Malaria & Travelers Diarrhea
