Ebola Virus Update

The global total of Ebola Virus cases is now 15,145, which includes 5, 420 deaths.  Health care work related exposure continues to increase, most of these exposures have likely occurred outside of Ebola treatment and care centers.

Incidence rates in Sierra Leone continues to increase with transmission concentrated in Freetown and Port Loko District.  In Guinea and Liberia the national weekly incidence rate has stabilized, transmission appears to be in key districts including Nzérékoré Prefecture (Guinea) and Montserrado County (Liberia).

The World Health Organization has declared the Democratic Republic of Congo Ebola free, though the threat still remains elsewhere especially in West Africa.
